Personal Training

Build strength with precision. Train with intention. Perform at an elite level.

My approach to personal training is built on 28 years of lived, professional-level movement. I don’t think I have ever admitted this till now, but I dreamed of being an Olympian, long before I ever trained clients…

In order to understand what you are signing up for, you have to understand who I am as a trainer, which is precluded by some of my history. I began gymnastics at age seven, committing to a discipline where progression is earned through adaptations to increasingly larger sources of stress. Athletes exert explosive, bone-crushing power with the surgical precision of a high-wire act, making the impossible look effortless. Maybe you remember seeing the grace of Nadia Comăneci’s “perfect 10.0 scored beam routine,” or you held your breath as Olga Korbut did her famous “Korbut Flip” on the high bar – a move later banned due to its high risk of permanent injury.

In gymnastics, your foundation is laid through daily warm-ups, conditioning, and stretching, as well as cardiovascular exercises. Then you build upon that the skills of tumbling, bar, beam and floor routines, and of course, hurtling yourself down the track to take flight over the vault, and the metaphorical “house” of gymnastics is complete. Inside this house, silently grew my dreams of becoming an olympic champion…I feared embarrassment if I ever told someone. Yet, I thrived in the environment that allowed me to grow, and I would watch the older athletes to see what skills I would soon be training.

As a competitive gymnast, the goal is mastery—developing increasingly complex skills across four apparatus through structured, high-volume training. Inevitably, you end up dancing the fine edge between injury and excellence as you squeeze in those crucial final reps, setting you apart from your competition….you know, the ones that allow you to solidify the rhythm and timing of a routine, and polish the form on certain moves; or the repetitions of a routine that help you fully memorize the choreography? The situation demanded that I become an artist and a healer within my own right, healing my body when injuries inevitably came. I broke my arm, my nose, and eventually my back (although this came much later at age 34). There were the surface level reasons that the injuries occurred, of course, exhaustion combined with distraction, but spiritual reasons as well, and growth that needed to occur while I healed. I had to be patient while I saw my teammates go on to compete and gain the medals I had hoped to win. It became obvious that I was starting to grow, and my coaches language towards me began to shift. She stopped saying things to me like, “Ashley, you are the one who I can take all the way.” Later, when I broke my back, I had to watch the crew of friends who had become my climbing partners go on to a summer of adventures without me.

Everything truly does happen for a reason though. Without these experiences, I would not be able to coach at the level I do now. I would not have had the success I have already had helping people from all walks of life, all ages and backgrounds, with their own injuries and limitations, surpass their goals. These injuries taught me to be humble, and to not only heal myself, but to heal others along the way. I value the ability to help others get back in shape, because that has been my journey: finding my fitness again and again….No matter how many times or how far away I may find myself from the path, I promise myself, I will always find my way back. My hope is that everything I have learned along the way will also help you! No matter how far off track you believe you are, I believe that if you have faith in yourself, and you follow my guidance, with time and consistency you will find your way back to shining and radiant health.

From the history I have shared, I hope you can already understand that I did not follow a conventional certification path to become a personal trainer. Instead, my work reflects decades of applied knowledge, real-world testing, and a highly developed ability to guide the body through intelligent, progressive transformation. My very first client was hemiplegic. I have worked with another that had MS. Another with Fibromyalgia and Cancer. The list goes on, but the outcome is the same. The goals are met, or exceeded.
This is not generic training.
Each 12-week program is designed with precision—balancing strength, mobility, and performance while respecting how your body adapts. The goal is not just visible change, but lasting structural improvement, resilience, and capability.
I work with a limited number of clients to ensure a high level of attention, accountability, and results. My clients consistently see meaningful, sustainable progress—including one current client who has lost over 85 pounds and maintained that transformation through this approach.
Training is available both in person and virtually, allowing for consistency regardless of location. Ideally, we will do a combination of both meeting formats: one in-person meeting and one virtual meeting weekly.

Apply for Private Training
: Submit the contact form with your goals, background, and availability. Provide as much detail as possible about the desired outcome for your training. Some examples: I’d like to gain muscle in my legs, core, and arms, while losing body fat. I’d like to increase my flexibility and mobility, while reducing my risk of falls. I’d like to improve my cycling milage/running time/ swim time, while rehabbing an ongoing injury. I’d like to do regular workouts with my spouse. Let me know if you have had a trainer in the past. How did it go? What is the reason you are no longer with that trainer? How often are you willing to commit to meeting with me? How often are you willing to workout on your own and for how long (15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 1 hr, 90 min, etc). Will you have support from friends and family, or will you be “training against the grain?” Please answer all of these questions and more. If you have information you feel I should know, especially health history that will affect your journey, include that as well. You may be asked for a Dr. note clearing you to train. This is all part of the journey. Even that visit is important, as the relationship between you and your Dr. (whether Md, naturopath, Osteopath, Chiropractor), is of utmost importance to have functional in tandem to your fitness routine. Maybe you even use a concierge Dr. service and pay a one-time fee once a year. When issues are beyond my scope, I need to be able to ask you to check in with you Dr, so we can move on confidently with our sessions.

You’re welcome to send a brief text to (707) 481-3202 after submitting your email to notify me of your program application. This will expedite processing time, and ensure a quicker response. Once I have processed your application and determined that we are a match, I’ll follow up with next steps: how to complete registration, any required materials to purchase, if applicable, for the first phase of your program, and complete the process with arranging the ongoing schedule.
I currently have availability in my schedule for one more personal training relationship. I say relationship, because we will become quite close on this journey! I consider each of my training “clients” a relationship that I give a part of myself to completely, and I have a commitment to their success. I actually will lose sleep over it! That is why
I take the selection process so seriously. There are specific qualities I am looking for in a qualified candidate, and not everyone is accepted.

If your application is denied, it could be for many reasons. You may request a report for the denial for an additional $25 fee. I wish I could offer this service for free, but with the number of applications I get, I have to account for my time. A new application for training can be submitted every 90 days, and submission is completely free. You can request a receipt for your records if you would like one.

Thank you for your commitment to health and wellness! By choosing to improve your health, you expand not only your horizons, but offer a greater future to your family, your peers, and the planet. I always encourage those on a health journey to make conscious choices as consumers. Please, use this time, while your are in a state of heightened awareness, to be mindful of the products you purchase. Do your best to source quality ingredients from suppliers that treat their workers and animals with as much compassion as possible, and take an extra moment to prepare foods in reusable containers, instead of disposable ones. Buy local at the farmers market if you are able to attend. Small actions, repeated by many, have a big impact. You are part of the solution! 🙂

Once students are comfortable with body weight training, it’s time to level-up. I like them to add tools such as a weighted vest and ankle weights, so that we begin building strength before ever picking up a set of barbells…that’s added next! 😉
